Staff

Title I schools have highly qualified staff that contribute to the improvement of students' academic and social skills:

Intervention Specialists

  • Experienced, professional teachers who have exhibited excellent teaching ability and exemplary classroom practices.
  • Work directly with students providing extra instruction, including 8-STEP Success Groups.
  • Use alternative teaching methods.
  • Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
  • Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate intervention.

Family and Community School Specialists

  • Provide workshops for parents and teachers on balanced literacy.
  • Work directly with students providing extra instruction during 8-STEP Success Groups.
  • Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
  • Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate intervention.
  • Help strengthen family ties by engaging families in literacy and/or math instruction (home visits, work with parents to eliminate barriers that interfere with positive interaction with the school).

Literacy and Math Coaches

  • Experienced, professional teachers who have exhibited excellent teaching ability and exemplary classroom practices.
  • Work directly with students providing extra instruction during 8-STEP Success Groups.
  • Use alternative teaching methods.
  • Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
  • Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate intervention.
  • Improve instruction by engaging teachers in intensive professional development.

Instructional Assistants

  • Work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Work with students providing extra instruction during 8-STEP Success Groups.
  • Provide assistance to certified teacher in collecting data for needs assessment, student selection, desired outcomes, and evaluation as required.
