Our Professional Standards

STANDARD 3: EQUITY AND CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS

Strive for equity of educational opportunity and culturally responsive practices to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

STANDARD 5: COMMUNITY OF CARE AND SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS

Cultivate an inclusive, caring, and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and well-being of each student.

STANDARD 8: MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT OF FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY

Engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.

Social-Emotional

Why is Social-Emotional Learning Important?

Social and emotional learning provides a positive foundation upon which students can learn about themselves and others in a safe, nurturing school environment. As well as explicitly tackling subjects such as diversity, self-image, and responsibility, these skills can be transferred to other SEL lessons and activities by teachers and students alike.

MTSS

What is MTSS?

A Multi-tiered System of Support—known as MTSS— is a way to meet the learning needs of all students and integrate mental health support. When a school uses MTSS, all students are taught the same basic content, but some students may get extra help. This help is not the same as special education because it is for any student who needs it. Data from daily work, homework, quizzes, tests, and even games may be used to learn who needs more support.

With MTSS, students get supports based on their needs, not labels.

Parent Cafés

What are Parent Cafés?

In Cafés every voice is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to both learn and lead. First developed in 2007 by parent leaders from Strengthening Families Illinois, the Parent Café process remains a parent-to-parent way to build the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors within families.
