Migrant Regional Service Center - Region 1
The Corporation has partnered with the Indiana Department of Education to deliver a wide range of services to the children of migrant farmworkers. Through this collaboration, the Bilingual Services Department, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Education's Office of English Learning and Migrant Education, oversees one of the three Migrant Regional Service Centers in Indiana. The Migrant Regional Service Center for Region 1 provides supplemental instructional and support services and resources to migrant students in all school districts in 22 counties in Northern Indiana.
The staff at the Migrant Regional Service Center works with multiple school corporations to ensure that migratory children who move across states are not disadvantaged by variations in curriculum, graduation requirements, or state academic standards. These efforts also aim to guarantee that migratory children receive appropriate educational services tailored to their unique needs and equitable opportunities to meet the same rigorous state academic standards expected of all students.

Migrant Work Survey
“In accordance with federal regulations, the Migrant Education Program Work Survey must be administered annually to all students enrolled in Indiana school corporations, and not be based upon whether the school district believes the student is eligible for migrant services. The work survey must be completed during registration every year for all students and kept on file.
Those responding “yes” to the first two questions on the work survey, indicating that the family may have moved in the past 36 months to seek temporary or seasonal agricultural work, must complete the rest of the form. Any person in the household under the age of 22 must be listed on the form, not just the child(ren) enrolled in school.
When school corporation staff receive a survey that has been marked “yes,” they must contact their Migrant Regional Center to assist in determining final eligibility for the Migrant Education Program.
Identified students are categorically eligible for free lunch and textbooks and are entitled to supplemental educational services, which are provided by Migrant Regional Centers. The regional map and contact information for each regional director are provided below.
