Riley High School Honored for Fifth Consecutive Year by Project Lead the Way

SOUTH BEND, Ind. –  Riley High School has once again been honored by Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for its commitment to providing students with real-world knowledge and skills. This marks the fifth consecutive year the school has received this prestigious recognition.

As one of only 20 schools in Indiana to achieve this designation for the 2023-24 academic year, Riley High School stands out as the sole recipient in northern Indiana. The school has been celebrated for its dedication to empowering students with the tools they need for success beyond the classroom.

Kristen Haubold, computer science teacher and magnet department chair at Riley High School, commended the hard work and dedication of the school leadership and magnet team.

"I am very excited about Riley receiving this honor," Haubold said. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our school leadership and magnet team. We strive to offer the highest-quality educational experiences to our students and to prepare them well for their futures. Our students' excitement and hard work always encourage us to do more and go further with them."

Riley High School offers a range of computer science and engineering courses, including cybersecurity, aerospace, civil, and electrical engineering. During the 2022-23 school year, at least 25% of students participated in PLTW High School courses, which focus on ensuring balanced representation across race, ethnicity, poverty, and gender.

Shawn Henderson, principal of Riley High School, emphasized the teachers' intentional work and the students' evident effort.

"It is a great honor and demonstrates our PLTW teachers' dedication and the effort our students are putting in. This is the fifth consecutive year of this achievement, and we are committed to leaving our mark on PLTW."

The recognition of Riley High School's commitment to student success and quality education is not just an accolade but a testament to the students' and faculty's hard work and dedication. This achievement reflects the school's focus on providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their future pursuits.
