Dr. Cummings created the District’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion department-naming its first Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Cummings made sure technology was accessible to every student with a 1:1 program. Under his leadership, the district also installed Wi-Fi on its school buses, an initiative which has grown to become the Citywide Classroom-providing free, high-quality internet for St. Joseph County. Dr. Cummings supports the community by serving on the boards of United Way, The History Center, and the Indiana University-South Bend Advisory Board. He supports state-wide superintendents by being a member of Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) and president of Indiana Urban Schools Association (IUSA) which represents 37 urban districts and nearly 300,000 students. He is proud to serve his community as the superintendent of South Bend Schools.
