The South Bend City Council and the South Bend Community School Board will hold their first-ever joint meeting on Tuesday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. at Nuner Fine Arts Academy, 2716 Pleasant Street in South Bend, according to announcement made today by City Council President Tim Scott and South Bend Community School Corporation Board President John Anella.

The meeting is open to the public and attendees will be able to ask questions and/or comment on the content of the meeting. Both elected bodies will come together to discuss their respective roles and visions for revitalizing our schools, maintaining our city’s momentum, and providing necessary tools to ensure our youth can be successful and productive. South Bend Mayor James Mueller and South Bend Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings will also take part in the discussion.

“I am excited for this first-ever meeting; an open conversation is long overdue between these two elected bodies. Now more than ever it is important for the City of South Bend and the South Bend School Corporation to be in sync for the success of our children, the success of our public schools and the success of our city,” said Council President Tim Scott. “I want to thank Councilman Warner and Council Vice-President White for taking the lead on bringing these two elected bodies together.”

“We are thrilled to take part in this historic meeting. The health and vitality of a community are directly tied to the health and vitality of its public school corporation, and both the Board and I are eager to successfully partner with the City to leverage its upward trajectory,” Anella said.
