Career & Technical Education (CTE)

Career & Technical Education (CTE) offers high school students the chance to explore careers through hands-on learning, real-world experiences, and skill development that prepares them for college, careers, or both. CTE is available to all SBCSC high school students and is designed to connect classroom learning to high-demand career pathways.

CTE students can earn dual credit, meaning they can receive both high school and college credit for certain courses, along with industry-recognized certifications that provide a head start on careers and further education.

Transportation is provided for students participating in approved CTE programs.

Ask about dual credit and certification opportunities specific to your student’s interests

CTE includes a broad range of programs across fields such as skilled trades, health sciences, business and IT, engineering, culinary arts, and more. Many programs allow students to:

• Gain practical experience that connects classroom instruction to career opportunities

These options help students graduate ready for college, training programs, or immediate entry into the workforce.

Many CTE programs are supported by Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), where students build leadership skills, participate in conferences, and network with peers and industry partners while applying what they learn.
