Growth & Proficiency

Greetings!

I am proud to introduce South Bend’s Educator Growth & Proficiency System, extending our investment in the Teaching and Learning Initiative in continuing pursuit of Quality Learning for Every Student Every Day.  In pursuing this vision, we have an obligation to both support continuing learning and growth for our educators and assure quality and responsibility for our students’ learning.  To meet this commitment, we have chosen Supervision for Learning to serve as the guiding approach to our ongoing investments in The Framework for Effective TeachingThe Framework for Administrator Growth & Proficiency, and Collegial Conversation and Coaching.  I am proud to welcome one of Supervision for Learning’s creators, Tony Rigazio-Digilio, as he joins Mark Ravlin in guiding and facilitating our learning.

This graphic shows our intention to align this work in cycles of collaborative inquiry – students with their teachers all the way to the school supervisors with the superintendent. It also displays both the purpose of the Growth and Proficiency initiative, and the essential components of Supervision for Quality Learning, our term for the three components serving together in pursuit of Quality Learning for Every Student Every Day.

Going forward, the Frameworks will continue to define quality and proficiency, while Collegial Conversation and Coaching guide educators as they engage one another in the Supervision for Learning process.

Supervision for Quality Learning is our term for the three components serving together in pursuit of Quality Learning for Every Student Every Day. This page of the SBCSC website will be devoted to providing information about our Growth & Proficiency Initiative. Links and updates will be found to the left. Electronic editions of the documents that teachers and administrators will use in Growth & Proficiency are found there, together with resource documents to support their learning and activity.
